This traditional Japanese folding knife Higo no Kami with all-metal construction is one of the iconic everyday tools used in Japan from the Meiji to Shōwa periods. It is made by the renowned Nagao Koma Seisakusho workshop, whose history dates back to the late 19th century. This manufacturer is now the only holder of the official Higonokami trademark, which guarantees authenticity and adherence to traditional manufacturing methods.

The knife has a full-steel construction , i.e. the body and blade are made of steel, which ensures high strength, stability when sharpening and resistance to bending when working with the tip. The surface of the handle is covered with pear varnish , which improves grip even when dirty or when working with gloves. The characteristic protrusion on the back of the blade makes it easier to open the knife without using a safety catch.

Thanks to its simple but very functional design, the knife is popular for wood carving, pencil sharpening, fine cutting work and as an everyday work tool. Nowadays, it is also often used for teaching hand sharpening , as the open design makes it easy to monitor wear and adjust the blade to the user's style.
