Product description

This Higonokami comes from one of the last traditional manufacturers — Nagao Koma Seisakusho , who has been making these folding knives without changes in shape since the Meiji period (late 19th century).
This is a classic Japanese knife with handmade production, designed for everyday use.

Specifications

  • Total length: approx. 215 mm (open), approx. 120 mm (closed)
  • Blade length: approx. 95 mm
  • Blade thickness: approx. 3 mm
  • Weight: approx. 43 g
  • Blade material: Warikomi – Aogami blue carbon steel core, clad with soft iron
  • Handle material: Brass
  • Case: Paper box
  • Grinding: V-shaped – double-sided blade suitable for right- and left-handed users

Features

  • Warikomi construction : The blade consists of a hard core of blue paper steel (Aogami) sandwiched between soft iron – providing better resistance to breakage compared to all-steel blades.
  • Universal use : Great for carving, pencil sharpening, woodworking and as a practical knife for everyday use.
  • Hand sharpening improves sharpness over time and allows the knife to "adapt" to the owner's hand.
  • Suitable for teaching proper knife use - often used in schools and workshops.
  • The brass handle ages elegantly and acquires a patina, underlining the traditional character of the knife.
  • Registered trademark : Only products officially labeled as "Higonokami" can bear this name.

Note

  • Handcrafted production may cause slight differences in blade length between individual pieces.
  • The marking on the blade may be slightly offset , which is natural with die marking.
  • The knife is unused and rust-free , but may have minor cosmetic scratches from manufacturing.
