Product Description

This Kurikogatana is a traditional Japanese carving knife designed for delicate and precise work. It is primarily used for carving, woodworking, and bamboo work, but historically also in fishing, for example, to bleed fish after catching them.

The narrow blade with a sharp tip allows for controlled cuts in curved shapes, internal curves, and details where a regular knife cannot reach. Thanks to its compact size and low weight, the knife is very easy to handle and suitable for longer work.

The blade is traditionally hand-forged from carbon steel, which provides high sharpness and easy sharpening. The natural wood handle is simple, functional, and corresponds to the traditional concept of this tool.

Recommendations for New Knives

For maximum performance, we recommend gently sharpening on a whetstone before first use.
If you are unsure about sharpening, we offer a sharpening service or advice on selecting stones.

Warning – Carbon Steel Knives

Carbon steel is not stainless and may darken or develop a patina over time.
This is a natural process that does not negatively affect the knife's functionality.
After use, always rinse, dry, and store the knife in a dry place.
