Product description

This Kurikogatana is a traditional Japanese carving knife designed for fine and precise work. It is used primarily in carving, wood and bamboo work , but historically also in fishing , for example to bleed fish after they are caught.

The narrow blade with a sharp tip allows for controlled cutting in rounded shapes, internal curves and details that a regular knife cannot reach. Thanks to its compact dimensions and low weight, the knife is very easy to handle and is suitable for longer work.

The blade is traditionally hand-forged from carbon steel, which provides high sharpness and easy sharpening. The natural wood handle is simple, functional and corresponds to the traditional concept of this tool.

Recommendations for new knives

For maximum performance, we recommend fine grinding on a water stone before first use .
If you don't dare to grind, we offer a grinding service or advice on choosing stones.

Warning – carbon steel knives

Carbon steel is not stainless and may darken or develop a patina over time.
This is a natural process that does not negatively affect the functionality of the knife.
After use, always rinse the knife, dry it and store it in a dry place.
